I appreciate when destroyer or anyone else adds in their confidence level. If you don't like it, then don't take into consideration when placing bets. It helps me personally when deciding how much I want to bet and etc.

Well, that's complete nonsene! Odds has everything to do whether you a place a bet or not (combined with the estimated probability). Let's say in theory that odds on Demntieva were $1.10. Would you bet on it because you're confindent? No. Why? Because the odds is to low. Ok, I end the discussion there.

cracovia...you are taking too much into it. a probable result based on the odds means absolutely nothing...nothing in the world of sports betting is probable when placing a bet. one thing you do want to be when placing a bet is confident, which comes from knowing the sport and listening to others who know the sport. this is my opinion based on experience anyway.

If I understood it right you make difference between how "confident" you're and how "probable" a result is. It makes more sence but it's still a bit confusing for me because it's hard for me to separate those words when it comes to betting. My way of thinking is as described here: http://www.oddsonnet.com/index.php?id=29&L=0. Cheers!

Cracovia - I think there might be some confusion. I was referring, as I thought tennis-guru was, to a simple percentage of confidence instead of a percentage that reflected market value. My 85% statement on Dementieva was that I was 85% confident that she could get the job done over Safina, not that she should be reflecting the corresponding $1.18 (however that worked) market value. Hope this makes more sense?

I think that the percentage confidence is an excellent idea. However I do have restrictions on how much it will reflect the reality. Taking f.e. thedestroyer9 confidence level on Dementieva of 85% would equal the odds $1.18 while the market is around $1.7 (59% chances of winning). This would either mean we have an extreme value bet or just that thedestroyer9 has exaggerated her chances to win.

The Moscow match will still be ringing loud in the ears of Dinara Safina and Dementieva will have a definite mental edge despite having lost both their previous clay encounters. I can't help but think that the physical and mental energy drained from Safina after come-from-behind wins over Williams and Henin then a tough half-match against Azarenka is going to take its toll. Dementieva is more accustomed to these situations, and I was impressed with her deadly accurate groundies against Ivanovic. The serve is the only issue - Safina has been solid all week and even when broken especially against Azarenka she came back fighting twice as hard to get back on level pegging. Dementieva started out the week in shaky terms, but improved last match and is always in a match regardless because she's so brutal on the return. Dementieva still has a slightly superior career clay record and has won 5 of her past 6 against fellow countrywomen outside the world's top 10. Safina has lost her past 4 against the Russian friends, and is sure to be nervous in her first Tier 1 final. Recent wins over the likes of Zvonareva, Azarenka, Ivanovic, S Williams and Molik suggest Dementieva will have no problem with the power serving style of Safina, and the likelihood that she'll make many less unforced errors than her compatriot means she is the definite pick here for me and with about 85% confidence (there you go, tennis-guru)
