| | Ancic won the only meeting between the pair a couple of years ago in straight sets but the Croat was ranked some 40 places above his rival on that occassion and the Brit has made giant strides since then. The Ancic serve will have a great bearing on this match, there are not too many with a better service action than the Croat and he has a few variations up his sleeve. He has a good all court game and his disposal of the similar styled Baghdatis in the semi-final was simply awesome. Murray was in fantastic form against Mathieu but the Brit will need to up his first service percentage against Ancic. Murray has some terrific groundstrokes and is deceptively quick around court and also has a competent all court game. This is Murray's second final of the year and Ancic's first. All set for an interesting final, but I feel Ancic is the better value at around the 2.6 mark |

| | A comprehensive victory for Murray, restricting Mathieu to just four games. Despite the Brit serving to a poor 42% Mathieu won a paltry six points against serve and none of them when when Murray's first serve found it's target. Murray punished the Mathieu second delivery winning a whopping 63% and will be making his second ATP final of the year. |

| | I've been wating for this match up since the tournament began, by I must admit that I expected a little better odds on Mathieu. Murray hasn't impressed me so far this tournament. His serve has seen better days, also he should have lost the match against Wawrinka few days ago but managed to overcome it at the end. Mathieu has been vastly improved since the hiring of Mats Wilander as his new coach. He's serve has been amazing all tournament and this is the area of his best improvement. This match is about 50-50 and I will gladly take Mathieu. |

| | Ancic holds a healthy 3-1 advantage over Baghdatis including a match here in '06' when the Croat went on to reach the final. I admit to being a big fan of both players, Ancic has the better serve (certainly variety and consistency) and Baghdatis the more consistent return. Baghdatis is certainly no slouch in the serving department but his first serve percentage can fluctuate quite a bit. There is little doubt Baghdatis has the greater array of shots at his disposal but Ancic has a stronger mental side to his game. Odds of 2.25 sway me in favour of Ancic but this could easily go either way. |

| | Murray won this match up last year in three sets. Murray has a lot more to his game than Mathieu, the Brit is capable of slowing or upping the tempo at will, while Mathieu likes to go flat out from start to finish. Murray has better retrieval skills than most and although Mathieu has been pretty sound on serve this week his delivery is likely to be put under severe pressure against Murray. |

| | Just a solitary break in the match went to Murray in the first set, he saved the only break point he conceded and had a couple of chances to close the match out against the Mahut serve in game 10 of the second set. Mahut managed to stave off those opportunities to take it to a tiebreak and got the first mini-break only for Murray to counter almost immediately. The Brit eventually winning the breaker 7-5 and he will meet Mathieu or Simon in the semis. |

| | This tournament has kick started the season for both players and both have been finalists here in the past. Ancic has one of the best serves on tour is solid from the back of the court and devastating when he ventures to net and has the ability to march through the rankings providing he can steer clear of the injury and illness that have plagued his career to date. There are a number of similarities in the Soderling game, massive serve and strong from the baseline but he is not as adept as Ancic in the forecourt. All the makings of another close match. |

| | This is a repeat of last years quarter final match up which Baghdatis took on his way to the final. Baghdatis has every shot at his disposal and served to a high level yesterday but he is likely to find Youzhny a tough opponent to break down, the Russian has really upped his game over the last year or so and is more than competent in all departments. During that period Youzhny has recorded wins over Davydenko, Nadal, Gonzalez, Ferrero, Ferrer, Berdych, Gasquet, Moya and Djokovic. This is an extremely tough match to predict between two exceptionally talented players. |

| | The Baghdatis first serve percenatge jumped from 46% in the first round to an ultra impressive 72% in this match. If the Cypriot could post those type of figures on a more consistent basis he would be a serious threat to anybody. It is difficult to build any sort of rythmn playing Karlovic and Youzhny will be an altogether different type of proposition for Baghdatis in the quarter final. |

| | Mathieu has mustered just two breaks of serve this week, admittedly Llodra is extremely hard to derail on serve at the moment (almost Karlovic like at present) but then again he has been pretty comfortable on his own delivery. Mathieu likes to paint the lines and bully opponents with his strong baseline play and Simon is not too disimilar in that regard. I was impressed with Simon at the Aussie Open where he was prepared to try different tactics when things were not going to plan, he seems to be maturing as a player and his victory over Djokovic should give him the confidence to mix it with the games big guns. Mathieu holds a healthy 3-0 series lead over his compatriot two of those just last year but the boot might just be on the other foot in this one. |
