James has been working a bit with Craig Boynton - John Isner's coach. Craig has started to help him out at Saddlebrook which is where they both train. However, James has withdrawn from Madrid and Rome qualies, which leaves his current status uncertain.

Further to @fruitypro79's post:

JAMES Blake has withdrawn from the Australian Open and Brisbane International.
Brisbane tournament organisers confirmed Blake had pulled out of the Australian Open warm-up event, which starts on Sunday, for personal reasons but did not give further details.

Similarly Australian Open tournament director Craig Tiley confirmed the American, ranked No.59 in the world, was out of the first Grand Slam of the year, starting on January 16.

Tiley initially posted the news on Twitter.

"Just got word that James Blake has withdrawn from the A0 and Brisbane. Sorry to hear this and we wish James all the best," Tiley said.

Two-time champion James Blake rediscovered the best of his past form with a 6-4 6-4 upset of second seed Juan Martin del Potro to reach the quarter-finals.
The result gave the 69th-ranked American, the champion in 2005 and 2006, his first quarter-final since making the last eight in the Swedish capital a year ago.
Due to several seasons of injuries, the 31-year-old Blake has spent several weeks this season playing Challenger events, winning two of the lower-level titles and the American said he's not felt this good in years.
``This is my best win of last three years,'' said Blake.
``This is the best I've felt on court for a long time. To get a win like this against a top player is great.
``I've not done this for four or five years. I'll be proud of this one for a long time.''

There may be even more reason than usual to take care with backing James Blake - he's pulled out of the World Tennis Challenge in Adelaide this week.
He's been replaced by Ryan Harrison.
Not an ideal preparation for the AO.

Blake frustrated by lack of consistency

A day after winning the shortest match on tour [vs. Riba] this season, James Blake has fallen 6-4, 6-2 to Alex Dogopolov in Blake's hometown event at New Haven.

"I don't have the same confidence that I know I'm going to play at a certain level every day," said Blake, who has fallen out of the top 100 after struggling with knee problems this season. "When I play well, I can play consistently at a high level but now I play well in spurts.

Blake, who has alternately discussed and dismissed retirement this year, remains uncertain about his future. "Hopefully, I've got more left in me," he said. "I feel like I do.

"I'm going to put in the hard work. It's just a question of whether I'm able or not to do it and I still have it physically."
