Robson trading at around 1.60 on Betfair ahead of today's singles match with An-Sophie Mestach.
Seems too good to be true considering she won this title in 2008, is playing at home and already this year on the grass has qualified for Birmingham WTA (bt Voegele first round, lost 5 & 4 to Wickmayer), lost 3 and 4 to Cibulkova at the Ordina Open and lost 3 & 6 to Jankovic in the main draw here first round. She's lost just a total of 5 games in her first two matches in the girls against Ozaki and 15yo Hardebeck, apparently the Brit was serving out of her skin in the first set and one forum extract called her a "woman amongst girls" in her demolition of the Czech early. Mestach, a 16yo Belgian who prefers the clay, has beaten Kremen and Romanian wildcard Ana Bogdan in a tight 7-6 6-4 scoreline, a player who has lost 10 of her last 14 matches at all levels (juniors, ITF etc). Mestach is ranked 11 in the world after a fast rise during the latter stages of 2009, but she'll look pretty weaponless up against the power-packed Robson; An-Sophie is said to be a defensive baseliner who retrieves a lot of balls, but Laura has had good success against those type of players even on the WTA circuit and as long as she's focused/motivated she should win comfortably.

British teenager Laura Robson has moved up to a career-high ranking of 269 in the world after a string of good results in the United States. The 2008 Wimbledon junior champion reached the semi-finals of the ITF event in Dothan, Alabama, last week. Robson, 16, has moved up 46 places to become Britain's seventh-highest placed woman in the WTA rankings. Scotland's Elena Baltacha remains the British number one with a world ranking of 59. Heather Watson, the 17-year-old US Open junior champion from Guernsey, moved up 18 places to number 335 after reaching the second round in Dothan. Robson came through qualifying and beat Megan Falcon, Chin-Wei Chan (world number 514), Yuliana Fedak (192), Madison Brengle (179) and Sophie Ferguson (144), before losing 6-0 6-2 to Romanian fifth seed Edina Gallovits (119) in the semi-finals. Watson and Robson teamed up to reach the quarter-finals of the doubles.

Shame that the delightful Robson couldn't win. We'll hear a lot more about her though.
From AAP: Czech Karolina Pliskova won the girls' singles final at the Australian Open, beating Australian-born Briton Laura Robson. Pliskova overpowered Robson to record a 6-1 7-6 (7-5) victory.
