As far as I am concerned, I wont give 2c for any of these players. If you want to get some value out of this match, punt for Chvojkova to win the 1st set!

Veronika Chvojkova qualified with a couple of 3-set wins over a couple of lower ranked but more experienced Poles in Rosolska and Jans, and is in some consistent form of late at lower level though has struggled on the lower tier main events affecting her ytd record. The 21-year old Czech has a game for this surface - she stands a fair way back, is very speedy and hits with a nice loop over the net increasing her margin for error. Martina Muller, the pint-sized German, has endured a year to forget winning just 11 from 30 and seeing her ranking plummet 98 places since last April. She has played most of her tennis on the clay (78-69 career) and won this event in 2002, but in recent times Muller has struggled with her consistency and far too often racks up skyrocket error counts and gets easily flustered out on court. This some more points to defend here in a bid to save some sort of face with her position on the race, Muller has the motivation to succeed past this unheralded opponent and frankly if she fails to do she may need to have a good look at where her career is heading.

Pironkova has been playing well and got me a great win yesterday for a 2-0 score at 1/2. I may do the same here, but either way I'll have a lot on the win.

Pironkova looked to be suffering somewhat of a letdown in her match against Polona Herlocq, but got the prize in a hard-fought encounter after making the quarters at Rome last week beating Zakopalova, Ivanovic and Azarenka. She is a good returner of serve with great counter-attacking abilities, add to that her good movement on this surface and consistency off the baseline and you have a handy claycourter. She won an ITF title in Bordeaux late last year defeating Alize Cornet in the final, took a set off Serena at last year's French Open and took Sharapova right to the brink in Istanbul. She is undoubtedly a player on the rise, and providing all is well with her fitness after last week, is a good chance to upset the apple cart in a tournament that looks Dementieva-dominated. Unknown quantity Veronika Chvojkova is an ITF frequent flyer and has no real formline to speak of with known players apart from a 6-0 6-3 loss on clay to Savchuk last year which is hardly inspiring form. She qualified here with three wins over players ranked well outside the top 200, and beat a similar opponent in the opening round yesterday in unknown local Ozgen. Pironkova is simply a class above and is in no danger here.
