Vera Zvonareva has split with coach Sergei Demekhin and replaced him with Karen Krotov.
It's been reported that the reason for the split is a "lack of trust".
May pay to take some care with Vera (against quality opposition at least) until we see how the change is working.

Zvonareva, the No.2 seed at the Premier-level tournament, was the first to move through, breaking away from 4-all in the second set with five straight games and barely looking back for a 36 64 62 win over Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.

"We supported each other last week in Fed Cup, and now a few days later we had to play against each other," Zvonareva said. "It definitely wasn't easy but it's part of the game. It was also my first match on clay - I grew up on clay and I'm enjoying it, but sometimes I made wrong decisions on the court today."

Vera Zvonareva advanced to her second semi-final at the Sony Ericsson Open with her 7-5, 6-3 win over No. 9 seed Agnieszka Radwanska. This is the third semi-final appearance of the year for the No. 3 seeded Russian, who reached the same round at both Pattaya City and the Australian Open, where she lost to eventual champion Kim Clijsters. Zvonareva could face Clijsters again in Miami’s semi-final, should the Belgian get past the 2009 champion, Victoria Azarenka.

Zvonareva won five break points in the match against the Radwanska, who also reached the quarter-finals of Miami last year, and the Australian Open earlier this year. “I had to take my chances today,” said Zvonareva in the post-match on-court interview. She attacked the net a number of times often after chasing down Radwanska’s numerous drop shots. “I’m really happy the way I played and the way I came into the net,” she said.

Despite hitting only 53% of her first serves, Zvonareva had 27 winners to Radwanska’s five, and closed out the match in 94 minutes. After today’s challenge, Zvonareva said she will “try to recover the best I can to play good tennis tomorrow.”

Vera is apparently still rehabilitating an ankle injury.
It seems that it's minor and there are no question marks over her participation at the start of 2011.

Vera Zvonareva has pulled out of her home event in Moscow because of concerns about scheduling. Moscow takes place a week before the WTA year-ending championships in Doha.

I think she played into Serena's hands early by trying to match her from the back but Serena is the female player with a game closest to that of a man in my opinion - huge serve, big forehand etc
I always thought Vera would struggle unfortunately.

@paul - yes I really like Vera although I was somewhat worried about the class difference between her and Serena over the weekend, she is so much better than that performance.
