| | My selection:T.Golovin 11/10 (Will Hills)
Im willing to go with Tatiana in this match but at a risk i feel only because she might not be a 100%.That is the only reason i can see her as the underdog because Golovin imo is top 10 quality, but only played 8 matches on tour is the worry backing Golovin,Safarova just haven`t been consistent enough this year with up an down results an i think she will come up short in this match once again |

| | Huge match this one, between two confident hard-hitting French ladies who both like to be the aggressor in their matches. Rezai beat fellow talented youngster Kateryna Bondarenko in the opening round after prevailling in a tough first set breaker, whilst Golovin surprisingly took 3 sets to defeat another compatriot in Stephanie Cohen-Aloro. Golovin can be a little wayward at times and her concentration sometimes desserts her, but there is no doubting her talent. Her movement is questionable, but she makes up for it with her powerful groundstrokes off either wing. Rezai likes to keep the points nice and cheap, and she is fresh and ready for this fight. The value is definitely with young Aravane who may feel she has got nothing to lose against the world number 14 who is amazingly 6 months younger. |

| | Cohen-Aloro has been a solid player for many years, but players in about the top 50 give her a hard time. She lacks a major weapon, and relies more on consistency from the baseline to keep her in matches. Her compatriot Golovin will have none of that, as she will look to dominate with her big serve and penetrating forehand. Golovin has some making up to do after some disappointing recent Aus Open's and gets a perfect start here. |

| | Definitely a game to steer clear of. It was evident for all to see at Hopman Cup XX that Jelena Jankovic's injury problems are going to be an issue leading up to the Aus Open. Good news is that it wasn't a full hamstring year, but the gifted Serb is moving nowhere near 100%. That is the X factor here, because if she is fully fit this would be a great contest. Golovin won their first encounter in '04 back when Jankovic was a novice and was on the verge of quitting the game after suffering so many losses in a row, but since then has won both subsequent affairs in close 3 set clashes, then withdrew leading 1-0 in that Hopman Cup game where she pulled the injury. This would be a very good contest from the back of the court, with both players hesitant to veer off their baseline games, but you would have to favour Jankovic's superior backhand and serve on a normal day. Golovin is hot favourite here simply because nobody is confident that Jankovic is over her injury, so this is definitely just a game to watch. Let's hope the Serb can get fit before next week, as she is always a chance at the Slams. |
