Austrian number one female Sybille Bammer is preparing for a "jackpot battle" with compatriot and former world number one ATP player Thomas Muster, who won the French Open all the way back in 1995.
She has been training in Vienna with Stefan Koubek who is preparing for next week's Salzburg indoors challenger, and told local media; "I am certainly prepared well for this match and I want to go out there and show that women's tennis has evolved tremendously. I'll push even harder in the next coming days on the training track and try and claim the $100,000 (that is on offer for the winner of this 'Battle of the Sexes')
Thomas Muster, who has been training hard with sparring partner Patrick Schmölzer, said that whilst he has already experienced everything there is to experience in tennis, a match against a "super fit and talented" current female player was something out of the ordinary.
Schmolzer has reportedly been pushing himself and Muster so hard that he has suffered blisters in the past few days, but he added that the former world number one has now got his rhythm back and will be hard to beat for Bammer.
Muster's comments; "Nothing comes from nothing! I am now in the tenth day in training, and that already consumes a little bit of my time. I'm going with little training to Salzburg and then have to meet an extremely fit Sybille Bammer. That makes this game so interesting."
