Kuznetsova parts with coach

Svetlana Kuznetsova has decided to split from coach Olga Morozova after just four months, and will now be coached by former world No. 18 Amos Mansdorf of Israel, she reported on her web site. It is the second time that Morozova and Kuznetsova have split. "I wanted to announce officially that we stopped working with Olga Morozova, but I can’t describe how much I appreciate her effort and positive energy as well as what she has given me," Kuznetsova wrote. "I want to congratulate her. A few days ago she became a grandmother!"

Kuznetsova has withdrawn from San Diego and won't be defending her title.
It's unclear whether she's suffering from an injury.
She had this to say on Twitter: "Sorry guys, I have to say I won’t defend my title in San Diego and very sad about it."

Kuzzy lost to Begu in SF Marbella 2011.

"I'm very sad that I lost this match," said two-time Grand Slam champion Kuznetsova. "I had my chances to win but I didn't take them. It was very close throughout but she played a very good game."

"There were a lot of close games - I just managed to play better at the important moments," said the world No.6, who will be contesting her 13th WTA final. "Tomorrow I won't be thinking about the ranking of my opponent or anything like that. I take it as another match, and we'll see."

Svetlana Kuznetsova finally had a comfortable win after three-setters in her first two matches in Marbella, dispatching qualifier Lara Arruabarrena-Vecino, 61 62. Next up for her is another qualifier, Irina-Camelia Begu. The 20-year-old Romanian had never won a main draw match before this week, yet remarkably is into the semifinals after three straight set qualifying wins and three straight set main draw wins, the latest being Friday's 63 63 defeat of sixth-seeded Klara Zakopalova.

Also Wednesday, Svetlana Kuznetsova lost the first set for the second straight day but advanced to the quarters. The second-seeded Russian was two games from elimination in the second and third sets on Tuesday against Mona Barthel before prevailing, but this time versus Agnes Szavay had an easier time of it after her slow start, winning, 67(2) 61 62.

"The difference between today and yesterday is like day and night," said Kuznetsova, who is now 5-0 all-time against Szavay. "Today was much better. I was starting to feel the clay court better, sliding, playing with lots of spin. It was hard to adjust yesterday, but today I am closer to where I feel I should be."
