| | Sam Stosur continued on her good recent form with a win over Sara Errani who came into this event on the back of two consecutive hardcourt titles at WTA level. The big-serving Aussie won 80% behind her first serve whilst demolishing her opponent's serve breaking on 3 occasions, also producing 29 winners a facet of her game often questioned in the past. Serena didn't let a rain interruption bother her as she bombed Govortsova losing all but four points behind her first ball, firing down 7 aces but didn't produce her most accurate display off the ground. Sammy is looking fit as ever which will assist her in the humid conditions inside Beijing, and told the media she was "happy to be out there playing Serena" and will look to be "going for it" against the American champion. It's hard to find blimps in Serena's game, but I guess you can earn some points off her second ball with a controlled attack and you can yield errors from her racket if you pepper her forehand side and get her laterally on the move. Stosur, though, will no doubt need to serve brilliantly to quell the heavy returning of the American, and even she conceeded that she was surprised after her victory over Errani given she is not usually suited to the heavier conditions. There's no value in Williams whilst Stosur is well worth the smallest of value bets (especially me being patriotic), but it certainly would surprise to see Serena lose. |

| | Watched the wimbledon womens doubles final and Samy held her own against the williams, whilst her partners serve got punished for a winner to cost them the match. However saying that i feel Stosur needs a version of Errorena to show up to really stand a good chance of victory. Serena has the pedigree and will show her desire to win |

| | This is a match that on any given day, either girl can win. I would generally side more with samy s because she is a sparky lil fighter, whilst errani seems to have put in performances recently that surpasses her normal ability. |
