 Zvonereva has come a long long way from how she was years ago. She is one of the very few players that gets better as a match progresses. Take the match against Cornet - she was serving around 50% range and incurred a break with a fired up Cornet serving for the set at 5/4. So what does Vera do? She steps up her game and cleans up the next 3 and the Set. Come the Second set, it was all but over with serving at a phenomenal 85% that completely shattered Cornet.

Obviosly the importance of her Olympics Bronze Medal is accountable for this as well as her growth as a Player and a sense of belief. A truly respected player and in my eyes, playing as a Top 3. It is refreshing to see such maturity in her game.

Bartoli has battled hard to get to this stage but Barts isn't a player that loses many matches to no names. She loses matches to Big names like Zvonereva. I sense her capitulation yesterday in the 2nd Set to Bondarenka to play on her mind even though she smashed her tiring opponent 6/1. There will be no coming back if she is down early in this one. Zvonereva is just too good and a powerful baseliner that will seize upon any fatigue in Bartoli both in the psyche and physically.

Conclusion: Zvonerava 2-0
