| | Destroyer- have some aces mate. Thanks for taking the time to offer your analysis and dissuade me from a "value bet" on the Czech, the 17yo did take her foot off the gas and it nearly cost her but she showed her true class when it mattered most. Though, anyone laying -800 on her must've been sweating. |

| | crazyl - I don't think Hrdinova stands much of a chance today. Yes, she beat Wozniacki the last time in a see-sawing encounter but Wozniacki had only just turned 16 and was playing on her least favoured clay surface. Here, on the grass, where her big serve and heavy groundies are a formidable force for most, she is definitely one to watch out for as Jelena Jankovic would attest. In Eastbourne, the Dane blitzed both competitive counter-puncher Pironkova and the world number four Kuznetsova losing only 9 games in total and winning over 75% on the first ball combined, before running into a spirited Stosur on a difficult and windy day. Her losses this year have predominantly come to the big power hitters who can dominate her with the serve and from the baseline (not an easy thing to do - she is an athlete and a half) as her negative results against Venus, Maria (2), Ana (2) and Lindsay would strongly indicate. Hrdinova has been competing mainly at ITF and lower tier level, has a poor Grand Slam record and scraped through two of her qualifying matches with Sun and Jidkova. She is a tall figure with a decent first ball, but is erratic in her all-court game and doesn't move as well as she would like. The Czech hasn't beaten a top 20 opponent in her career to date, and I don't expect that to change against the Danish force. |
