Russian Igor Andreev knocked out hometown favourite Michael Russell, capitalising on four of eight break points to dismiss the American 6-2, 6-3. It marked his first win in three matches against Russell.

Andreev out of Hamburg now too, ongoing injury there aswell. Everyone's favourite headcase Fabio Fogggggggnini is the replacement.

Andreev has withdrawn from Stuttgart next week, guessing he isn't fully over his ankle problem. Not going to turn up and tank like he did at Wimby, not surprising given the comparative pay cheques.

He's replaced in MD by Stakhovsky.

Anybody surprised by Andreev form this year, especially on clay? I thought about 18 months ago that Andreev apart from a shaky backhand was the real deal and would become around 14-8 player,,, now Igor is all most outside the top 50. Just hope he`s had a niggling injury and that has effected his results and he will come back as a player we know he can be.

Russian Davis Cup captain Shamil Tarpischev has announced that Igor Andreev is the most likely replacement for Niko Davydenko in the host nation's Davis Cup playoff tie with the Indians this weekend.
