an update on Wozz's wrist (Jan 12): On Thursday, WTA spokesman Eloise Tyson said Wozniacki had an MRI exam on her wrist that “showed no major damage.” “It’s inflamed, and she will continue to have it monitored and it’s hopeful she will play the Australian Open,” Tyson said. http://yhoo.it/AtWGV8

Caro's outfit for Aussie Open. http://29.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lxjl7iDRsd1qzvegao1_400.jpg Here’s the good news: If she gets dumped out of the Olympics early, she can always find work as a barber pole. The bad news is, well, pretty obvious.

I don't agree with Sven. There are some other factors for Caro to win a major what we were talking about. In my opinion if Wozniacki stops playing this lower level tournaments she can say goodbye to number one spot for sure because most of the girls are playing 20+ tournaments a year and most of them are also focused to try to be world No. 1. So all of this that Sven is talking just don't make sense. I am tired of all excuses from Caro and people around her about winning a slam. Come on girl, show me the power and you will win a slam!

More on the Wozniacki debate from Tennis Magazine: Adidas coach Sven Groeneveld, who has helped coach Caroline Wozniacki over the past few years, says the Dane must cut down on her schedule if she is going to win a major. "I spoke with Caroline and her father about it in Istanbul during the WTA Championship," Groeneveld told Politiken. "I told them that they have to realize that Grand Slam tennis does not last a whole year, but two weeks and seven matches. The main objective is to win seven matches. It does not matter who your opponent is. It is about maintaining focus in two weeks during which you must keep your routines and work very specifically to the ultimate goal. But their focus was elsewhere, a different approach to Grand Slams, the bigger focus was being world No. 1. What they should do to maintain that position instead of creating the best conditions to win a Grand Slam." Wozniacki recently hired Ricardo Sanchez to coach her along with her father, Piotr, so it is unlikely that Groeneveld will work her as much as he did in the past. Wozniacki played 22 tournaments last year, the most of anyone in the Top 6. "Caroline has shown how stable she can be, so the next step is to play fewer tournaments, maybe one or two, not much," said Groeneveld, who coached Ana Ivanovic to the 2008 Roland Garros crown. "Does she need to play Madrid, Rome and Brussels in row right up to Roland Garros? And is it really necessary to play a hard-court tournament (Copenhagen) before Wimbledon? The key is to stay focused before and during a Grand Slam."
