| | I think Gulbis is the bet at 1/2. Greul has the experience, but it's mostly experience of getting hammered. Gulbis is still young and confident. By no means a complete player, but he has raw ability that has helped him before a fixture in main draws. Greul has never really had that, he may benefit from a Gulbis off day but over 5 sets and especially if Gulbis is playing well I would think 1/2 on Gulbis is plenty generous. |

| | Greul has served well in qualies dropping his serve just once, he faces another big server in Gulbis and the Latvian has shown his ability to shock some of the more established names and has beaten Moya, Tipsarevic and Robredo in the last year. Gulbis is still something of a rough diamond but he has plenty of firepower and it is just a case of him having more control over his armoury. This is Gruel's first attempt in the main draw but he is unlikely to be a pushover as he brings plenty of experience with him. |

| | Greul certainly has the bigger serve and if his first serve is firing Schukin is going to have a tough time but he shouldn't be underestimated and can more than hold his own from the baseline. He has taken sets off Schwank, Bolelli and Zverev recently and was also competitive against Wawrinka. The hd2hd favours Greul but this could go the distance. |

| | Greul leads the h2h 2-0 on clay and will be very confident of beating the dodgy Schukin. The German was in good touch before suffering a back injury two weeks ago, but appears fully recovered after notching two impressive wins over capable claycourter Julio Silva and the very promising Kei Nishikori both without dropping a set. Schukin ended a 3-match losing streak by ousting Lacko and Hernych in easy style, but he has failed to qualify for the French in 5 previous attempts. Greul boasts a superior record on clay and wins in the past year on that surface over the likes of Melzer, Chardy, Fabbiano, Phau and Koellerer would suggest he should be in with a great shot of progressing. |
