| | I couldn't possibly hope to be much more confident here either. He's no silky player Roko but he works hard and has a very good rounded game. There have been injury concerns of late but there gone and he is playing in his own back yard and can complete this match in straight sets. Piccari 7/4 Karanusic 2/5. |

| | Smarboy bullet have you seen the opponets that Karanusic lost on three previous occassions here? He always lost to the eventual champions LOL!!!!! Wawrinka, Canas, and Moya hahaha. If he cant beat Piccari today, who can he beat? |

| | Karanusic has lost all three of his previous first round matches at this tournament and as Mathias has pointed out the Croat has withdrawn from his last two engagements and his lifetime record shows that clay is probably his worst surface. Piccari plays the majority of his ball on the dirt and the Italian came through qualies here getting a good feel of the conditions. He has also made nine futures finals over the last couple of years and has won his last four. Although Karanusic is the better player on paper, he couldn't possibly be backed with any confidence with his fitness still in doubt and Piccari gives the impression he is an improver. |
