| | Querrey looks the goods on paper, with most things in his favour here. The court will suit him more than Russell, he has the bigger serve, has youth on his side, plays well in the States and leads the h2h 1-0 where the two met once again on an American hardcourt. If you take into account that Querrey was outside the top 150 when he won that game and the fact he's improved out of sight and is now on the fringe of the top 50, it seems a foregone conclusion. But Russell is capable of an upset especially on the US hardcourts where he plays nearly exclusively all his tennis. He is a speedy competitior who has some quality groundstrokes, but lacks any sort of dominance on serve. But he'll take heart from Querrey's most disappointing loss to Gremelmayr in San Jose after leading by a set, and Russell was a narrow loser to Ginepri in Delray Beach before withdrawing from San Jose with shoulder complaints. But Russell has a 7-2 record indoors over the past 12 months, and an upset wouldn't surprise me at some quite juicy odds providing he is over the injury concern. |

| | Two American veterans fighting it out, but Ginepri is higher credentially having won their previous encounter on a US hardcourt there too, and also being slightly younger and being proben elsewhere outside the US. Russell is rarely sighted unless playing in his home country, but he is known as Mighty Mouse for a reason due to his neverending fitness that allows him to run all day and wear opponents down. His groundstrokes aren't the worst, but definitely don't live up to the power and acuracy of Ginepri. Robby also has the bigger serve, and will enjoy the bounce and kick out of these surfaces. I expected him to be around or undere the $1.50 mark, so there is some really good value in early markets for the former top 20 player. |

| | Russell needed 5 sets to see off a player that was serving at below 50% in the first round. Movement is his main asset and although competent off the ground lacks the power to hit winners on a consistent basis. Blake actually trails in the hd2hd but the two defeats were way back in 2000. Blake won 84% behind his first serve and if he can serve to around the 60% mark in this match Russell will have a lot of trouble containing him. Blake is incredibly quick around court which negates Rusell's main strength and hits on the run as well as anyone in the game. Blakes forehand is his key weapon and if he can get that firing early in the match, Russell is in for a torrid time. |
