These two have contested 3 times and Ferreiro won the last encoutner after being bagelled in the opening set. He was give some title I recall seeing last year - I think something like the "challenger player of the year" or "most improved" - and comes here off the back of a finals appearance in Florianopolis (d. Kuerten and the promising Dabul before losing in 3 to the high-flying Bellucci) and a semis appearance in Zagreb (d. Stakhovsky, Phau and Vanek before losing to Berlocq). He lost only 3 games against Kuznetsov, and faces an out-of-form Capdeville who has been struggling for form and with injury. His opening win was against a Frenchman ranked outside the top 1000, and is often too passive and defensive at the best of times despite a good height advantage over most players. Ferreiro will count himself pretty unlucky in previous French Open qualifying, having run into Monaco (6-3 6-3 in 2004) and Djokovic (6-4 6-4 in 2005) and will appreciate the drop in class. Unable to find a market on this match at the moment, but I dare suggest that if Ferreiro is anything over the $1.60-$1.70 mark he would be a great value stake as he should have too many guns on the clay for the Chilean.

The rise of the likes of Anderson and Granollers have shown that it pays to keep up to date with challenger results...... Bellucci apears to be another prospect to look out for.
