| | Great recovery from marcos in second set to get back from 5-0 down to 5-4, just shows the mental fragility of most modern tennis players to lose his own serve to get back to 5-5. Bring on the final set. Come on Marcos! |

| | Daniel's consistent form against the lower ranking players will see him through against the rapidly fading Berlocq. |

| | Berlocq won the first two encounters in 2004 both tight affairs but Daniel has convincingly squared the series in the two appearances in more recent times indicative of the downward plight that the Argentine has taken in recent years. Berlocq, like Daniel, plays a majority of his season on the clay surface but has a horrible 3-15 record at ATP level this year and since making a Zagreb challenger final in May has lost 7 of his subsequent 9 matches including a loss to Schukin at Stuttgart and the Kazakhstani was beaten in 2 sets by Alberto Martin last night in the Netherlands. Daniel has been a real improver on the tour - late last year he made back-to-back challenger finals, then carried that form over to this year winning the Bogota title and losing in the final at Napoli (to Starace) and also beating Massu, Troicki and Volandri as well as a 5-set loss to Melzer at the French. The Brazillian is very consistent from the back of the court and covers the court exceptionally well, he also has the advantage on serve where he often lands the ball in at a good percentage (see the hold percentages on TI model). Berlocq is the more aggressive of the two and likes to use his forehand up the line, but the one-handed backhand is very much hit and miss and from what I've seen of Berlocq this year this wing can bring mountains of unforced errors if peppered enough. Daniel may have lost his past 4 but they were to Verdasco, Wawrinka, Granollers and Andreev - some of the better claycourters - and to show how consistent he is he has managed to win 12 of his past 14 against lower-ranked opposition. Berlocq is more suited to challenger level in my opinion, and the Brazilian couldn't have asked for an easier draw. |

| | Argie is enjoying tournaments in Balkans (this year in Zagreb) and here in Umag he has been in QF Daniel is collecting loses recently but to better players but anyway he hasnt beaten anyone worth to mention so his form is questionable to me and Berlocq in his favourite region must be a bet here |

| | Daniel will take this one without too many problems. Berlocq is not a good competitor and Daniels form this year has been ok. Daniel to progress.. maybe in 2. |

| | If anything should be said, this is definitely not a favorite play with any size risk. I like the way this qualifier is playing and give him a measured shot at success here. |
