Luka Belic was born in Umag and the 19-year old resides in nearby Kopar. The local boy enjoyed success as a junior reaching the QF at Wimbledon and the semis at the US in 2006, but since turning pro last season has really struggled at challenger and ATP level winning just 1 of 14 matches but competing fairly with Djokovic, Berrer, Zovko, Polansky and Kavcic. The former junior number 5 rates his favourite surface as clay, and is virtually playing in his home backyard, not to mention against a serve-volley opponent who despises the dirt. Zverev went 2-7 in the European clay swing earlier in the year, and after retiring from Wimbledon through injury he lost to 514th ranked Koning on grass and then lost in his home country to the in-form Bolelli after claiming the first set in a breaker. He has a big serve but the lanky German's movement is quite suspect and the groundstrokes and all-round play are nothing to write home about. In the past two years, Mischa failed to qualify in 2006 then beat an off-tap Serra last year before being humbled by Volandri in a tight two sets. Zverev, despite everything against him, can definitely win this match and no doubt will have an easier time holding serve, but he is certainly not worth risking at the ridiculous odds and if anything the unknown Croatian represents tiny value.
