| | You cant not pick Safin after his performance in Wimbledon, he has to win this one and if he doesn't, that was all a fluke, but should beat Lopez. |

| | As Safin said,he plays now only for fun,and that could be key figure of his play. He is relaxed,selfconfident and way past that pressure of being former Nr.1. I'm sure he will play good tennis this year and i expect him in Top 20. It would be a really shame that if he loses today. |

| | Danger game for big Marat who enjoyed such a wonderful Wimbledon campaign in what could be a sneak preview to a return to form for the big man. He has lost his only previous encounter with journeyman Marc Lopez at Sopot on clay back in 2004 when Safin was more near the peak of his powers, Safin won just 21% off the second serve and committed a large number of unforced errors in a typically wayward display. Safin has struggled on clay this year with the top returners and quality baseliners as losses to Davydenko, Wawrinka, Moya, Gonzalez and Ferrer would strongly suggest, and Lopez plays mainly at challenger level where he is no better than hit or miss commodity. The Russian has struggled with Grand Slam hangover in the past having never posted three consecutive wins the tournament after a major since making the Cincinnai quarters back in 2005, however against such lowly and non-threatening opposition it would be unlikely to see Safin faulter here especially if he doesn't want to unravel all of his good work at the All England Club albeit on a different surface. |

| | I would say that Lopez can turn this around. Nieminen has been the dissapointment of the year along with Richard Gasquet. |
