Robredo healing, but won't play in Paris April 24, 2012 Former world No. 5 Tommy Rodredo, who hasn’t played a match since late October due to a serious left leg injury, says that while he is feeling great and rehabbing six to eight hours a day, he will not attempt to compete at Roland Garros, as he does not believe he is up to playing five-set matches yet. "I envy my colleagues," he told Mundo Deportivo. "I’ll be 30 years old next week. I'm young and I have always been very careful, I see two, three or four more years of playing quietly. To wake in the morning and compete is awesome. When you are on the outside you see more things you value, what you have and want it back." -- http://www.tennis.com/articles/templates/news.aspx?articleid=17390&zoneid=25

Spanish sporting website "Marca" has reported that the Spanish Davis Cup final team has been all but finalised.
Captain Albert Costa was an ever-present figure in Paris last week watching potentials Tommy Robredo, Nicolas Almagro, Fernando Verdasco and of course seeled number one player Rafael Nadal, impressed by the quality and fighting spirit of all players. He said that although formal follow-up procedures must be adhered to, he had "made up his mind in his head" that his quartet of players will be Nadal, Verdasco (singles) with Ferrer and Feli Lopez listed as the starting doubles line-up. Juan Carlos Ferrero was a shock omission from the entire squad not even named as an emergency back-up, and instead Costa decided on the more in-form Tommy Robredo to fulfil that duty. Even better news for the Spanish veteran is that David Ferrer is still under an injury cloud due to ongoing problems with his left leg adductor muscle, and I would go as far as saying that I would expect Robredo to team up with his good pal Lopez for the all-important doubles encounter especially given the American pairing of the Bryan brothers are the best combination in the world and an even slightly off-par Ferrer would be a huge liability to the team's chances.
