Brazil’s top-ranked tennis player Thomaz Bellucci has ended his partnership with Gustavo Kuerten’s former coach Larri Passos.

Bellucci says they reached an agreement to part ways after a series of disappointing results. Passos was Kuerten’s coach when the Brazilian won three Roland Garros titles.

Since hiring Passos about a year ago, Bellucci has won 25 matches and lost another 25, without winning a title.

The 36th-ranked player said in a statement late Wednesday that he was grateful for all that he learned from Passos but that it was better to end the partnership.

Thomaz is the top seed in Sao Paulo this week to defend his Challenger pts from last season.

Bellucci won't play in Buenous Aires next week, seemingly because of his heavy schedule.

Seems a great idea after winning last week in Santiago and needing to defend finals points for this event (he lost first round last year at the Copa Telmex therefore is relatively unimportant for his ranking)

this match reminds me of the 'hare and the tortoise'....bellucci is sprinting from the gun..while acasuso has gone off easy and will pip him at the finish line!

Win or loose Bellucci need to finish this game with some style - that's my only point. I can't view the match either, but both players must be depressed by Bellucci's poor play. Stadler has no winners, he is only benefiting from all those unforced errors from his opponent. If Stadler doesn't win it is only because he decided to sit back and watch Bellucci self-destruct.
