| | I really think, as a Dutchman, that it wouldn't be a straight set win for Hewitt. His play in Holland last week wasn't bad, i was in the audience and he struggled because of the big serve of Ljubicic. In the rally's he was not without a chance and most of the time equel to the Croat. When he was a break down in the second set he broke back on his last opportunity. Three unfortunate sloppy misses in the tie-break sealed the match. In a tie-break that he really could have won. In Germany he played a perfect first set (100% of points on his first service) ,against Kiefer who is a good grass-player. After that, Kiefer grab in the second set his only break-point opportunity and won also the third set for homecrowd.
There's a big chance that comeback-kid Hewitt will win the tomorrow match, but not in straight sets, i guess. Probably 3-1. |

| | Haase showed a dissapointing play at his home country, I dont think he can play better in Wimbledon a week after. Hewitt has huge esperience in Wimbledon and he can expect an easy win at the first round. |

| | You have to wonder when Haase will finally make that step forward. He's lost in the first round in both of his grass preparation tournaments Halle and 's Hertogenbosch. He hasn't been exactly lucky with the draw either. He had to play against hometown hero Kiefer at Halle and defending champ Ljubicic in his home country the Netherlands. Now he has to play against a one time winner here at Wimbledon, Lleyton Hewitt. This won't help his mental issues. This will be a straight setter in Hewitt's favor. |

| | Bullet hit this on the head with Haase's performance at the top level where he is yet to convince anybody despite his obvious raw talent. The big-serving Dutchman should relish the grass with his highly effective serve, big groundstrokes and a compotent net game, but he is very inconsistent and is fairly fragile in the mental stakes. He has lost 4 matches in a row with tight defeats to Kiefer and Ljubicic at the two lead-up events, and 2002 champion Hewitt despite an ongoing hip problem will be confident of squirting his experience all over the youngster. Hewitt put in an intense practise session yesterday, showing some racket-throwing and verbal antics which suggests he is super keen to do well at this tournament. His manager David Dryesdale stated in a media interview that his hip in no better than it was at the French (where he beat MAhut and Fish before losing in 5 sets to David Ferrer), but that he was making no excuses once out on court. Hewy has a decent serve, is one of the best fighters on tour, retrives and counter-punches as good as any, has a big motor and - most importantly for this match - is still one of the supreme returners. Haase is going to need to serve impeccabily to quell the Aussie's niche, however over the 5-set journey where Lleyton so craves it is unlikely to be the miracle he'd wish. |

| | Hewitt is on the comeback after missing most of the season an is makeing good progress.Reaching the Quater/Finals at Queens where he always performes so well but this year was just outclassed by Djokovic.Hewitt knows what it takes to win matches like these an im confident he will.It will be defence against an a very attacking Haase but Hewitt can be just attacking when needs be but Haase when needs to defend it just don`t happen for him.Haase is a talented player tho with a big serve an you would think is game would be suited to grass but he is finding it hard at moment loseing in the 1st round both times in Hert an at Halle.Hewitt will just have to much in is locker straight sets! |

| | Haase did reach the final of junior Wimbledon back in 2005 but his record on the main stage is a pretty poor one standing at 2-6. The Dutchman has a big serve and is very much an attacking player, traits that should lend themselves to this surface but as yet the results for Haase do not show that. Hewitt won the title here back in 2002 before Federer took over and made it his own private domain but the Aussie has had two quarter final showings and a semi since that win showing he is still one of the more naturally gifted players on grass. Having missed most of the clay season Hewitt should come in fairly fresh and he played well enough at Queens before coming up against a hot Djokovic in the quarter final. Hewitt boasts an exceptional 84-22 record on the grass and it will take a top performance to beat the Aussie who is as good a defensive counter-puncher as any on this surface. |

| | Haase has showed this season that he is a real talent, and he beat Ljubicic already, at the Australian Open, but he still has a lot to prove on grass, and even though to tournament is in his home country, Ljubicic is the defending champion and should have an upper hand in this match up. |

| | Ljubicic went down in three tight sets to Llodra at Halle, while Haase was unable to build on winning the first set against Kiefer at the same tournament. Ljubicic has the bigger serve and although the Croat won this tournament last year his overall main draw record on grass of 17-18 is nothing special. Haase although a junior Wimbledon finalist in 2005 has vey limited experience on grass and has won just one of his four matches in main ATP draws on the surface. Haase was by far the better player when the pair met at the Australian Open earlier in the year, winning in four sets including one of 6-0. He broke Ljubicic on six occasions in that match and took full advanatge of the Croats weaker second serve winning 57% of those points, while he won an impressive 81% behind his own first delivery. Ljubicic is arguably in better form now and should get more from his serve on this surface. Haase plays a much more aggressive style than Ljubicic suggesting there will be more winners and errors coming from the Dutchmans racquet but also usually means the agressor is master of his own destiny to a certain extent. This could well be a tight and serve dominated match but Haase could be a spot of value to take out the current title holder. |
