Canas on his retirement;

"Beating Roger Federer twice in succession was extraordinary. It was great for me and then in 2008 I was in the top 15 again and one year after that I'm coaching, and will make my retirement official this week."

He set up the Canas Tennis Academy at the Tennis Centre at Crandon Park last year, and it's fitting that he plays his last event in Miami.

I doubt that many of us will be too upset about this - Canas has retired to open a tennis academy in Florida.

Guillermo Canas has told Argentine sports newspaper Ole there is a
"90 per cent" chance he will not return to the tour.
The 32-year-old has been experiencing more wrist problems and said earlier this year that he would not attempt another comeback if he got injured again.

Canas said he may play the ATP event in Buenos Aires in February as a farewell, and is not ruling out a future return to the tour as a coach.

Canas lost in 3 sets to Monaco in an exhibition tournament (7-6 4-6 4-6) and showed a decent enough level to suggest that he is likely to play on next year.
