| | Del Potro's wrist/arm is still in a splint but he's hoping to be back for Miami, though it's unlikely he'll get much practice time in beforehand.
If he draws someone decent first up there could be some serious money to be made. |

| | del Potro on the Chilean earthquake which actually awoke him while in Buenos Aires at the time;
"I was sleeping when at approximately 3:30am I started feeling dizzy and also hearing loud noises," he said to ATPWorldTour.com. “The first thing I thought was that I had left the windows open and the wind was making the noise when it hit against the walls. I live on a high floor of an apartment building so I didn’t think this was out of the ordinary.
"Everything in my apartment was shaking and when I walked into my living room, the curtains and the decorations on the walls were shaking as well. This went on for 5-6 minutes," the US Open champion added.
"I am very saddened that the second natural disaster has taken place in such a short amount of time in the Americas, affecting so many people,” he said. "I have traveled to Chile many times in my life and love the people and the country. My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Chile today and I pray that as many people as possible will escape this terrible disaster safely."

| | Various news outlets are reporting tonight that US Open champion Juan Martin Del Potro will be out of tennis action for the next four weeks because of continued tendinitis problems in his right wrist.
The injury will force him out of Marseille and his Davis Cup tie against Argentina on March 5. It’s the same what that hurt him at the Australian Open and at the end of last year.
The BBC in fact is reporting the 21-year-old could be out as long as two months! That would mean missing Indian Wells and Miami.
I’m a fan of his and I was looking forward to seeing him play in the U.S. next month. I hope he still does but all this doesn’t sound too good

| | Fom Times Online: Juan Martin del Potro will be out of action for at least a month to allow him to recover from the wrist injury that hampered his Australian Open campaign. The US Open Champion first felt the problem in his right wrist in October and was troubled by it at the Kooyong exhibition prior to the Australian Open. The world No 5 struggled through the early rounds in Melbourne before losing to Croatia's Marin Cilic in the fourth round. Del Potro returned to South America to train, but aggravated the problem this week and decided to take a break. The 21-year-old will miss the ATP World Tour events in Marseille and Dubai and Argentina's Davis Cup tie against Sweden. He will aim to return to action at the Masters Series events in Indian Wells and Miami. "What happened was something that surprised us all because Juan Martin was doing very well in training," Franco Davin, Del Potro's coach, said. "In the final training session he felt a pain. He went for a scan and the problem was detected. The important thing now is for him to recover and return to playing without discomfort." |

| | Further to the Destroyer's post. This is from AP:
BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP)—U.S. Open champion Juan Martin del Potro has injured his wrist and is expected to miss Argentina's Davis Cup series against Sweden next month.
Del Potro was injured Thursday during a practice session. He has been bothered by tendinitis in his wrist for months.
At the Shanghai Masters in October, he retired in the second set because of the injury. He pulled out of an exhibition tournament just days before last month's Australian Open with the same problem.
Martiniano Orazi, Del Potro's trainer, said the No. 5-ranked player would need four weeks of rest and four more weeks to get back into playing shape.
