Davydenko will prove why he is the russian number one. He is exactly the player to frustrate Tursunov who won't have enough patience against the "wall" at the other side of the net. Davydenko in 3.

Davydenko has struggled recently trying to find good form which included an extremely early exit at Wimbledon followed by a whole bunch of nothing in Cincinnatti and Canada. Seemingly the world #4 has found some of his form again, at least in the early rounds so far playing some good tennis to get to this point.

Turusunov out slugged Hanescu and Schwank to make it to this point. The Russian, who makes his home in California, has had a decent run here at the US open series but seemingly all of his exits thus far have come against players that are ranked very highly and seem to just outclass him.

In all honesty I don't think that Turusunov stands any kind of a shot here. This will be one of my biggest bets of the tournament as everyone knows that Davydenko steps up his level of play during the business end of tournaments and with a win here should set up a semi final match with the vulnerable Federer.

Davydenko's H2H record is a good indicator on the outcome of this match.

After much consideration I've gone large on Tursunov, but with a larger saver (which will cover almost exactly the loss) on Davydenko not to win it in straight sets.
Think I should at least be ok for turs to win 1, but if not I am in deep trouble.

COME ON DIMITRY

tursuov realy struggles against this tipe of players and should be no eferent here,he wish to end the point very quickly but nikolay will keep returning back, also he is a great serve returner so tursunov will have to play moore balls....

I think turs is in the better form at the moment, and at 3/1 is worth at least a 1 point bet, if not 2.
This is the first week since before wimbledon that davy has won back to back matches, and I don't see him extending that run if Turs brings his A game.

Tursonov is playing on his best surface. A hard and heavy hitter with a serve and placement to match, he is not the easiest player to get past. Form guide suggest this match belongs to Tursonov and I will go with that.

Expect Davy to fight all the way to the bitter end.

I think Tursonov can win here...Davydenko's most recent tournaments when compared with Tursunov's lead up reflect that he is going to be a bit underdone...the way D's been bundled out in the lead up tournaments just doesnt gel with his March 2008 form....something is clearly up with davydenko at the moment, or if not now, it has been up in recent weeks..whereas Tursunov has had a solid build up, having contested a number of matches against a who's who of solid pro's...Tursonov will be privately seething re his past inability to prevail over Dav and will know that a win is not beyond his capabilities, and the intensity this will bring to the start of the match will upset the lollypop merry go round straight set romps Dav has been having against lesser lights...Tursonov will need to bring his A-game but i think he can do it...he just needs to nudge Dav politely back into the under achieving form vortex pervading his preparatory campaign

Just a feeling Tursunov will take this one. Davydenko to me has proved he is as strange a player as Tursunov and most Russian. Nikolay has not won a lot of games on hard after the Masters title in the beginning of the season. Tursunov is unstable and I have made the promise to keep off him a number of times, but he really has the game for US hard courts and I will risk some money on him here.

Davydenko knows how to beat Tursonov and has chalked up some fine performances in the previous few rounds. He is one of the best returners and will frustrate dmitry by the sheer number of balls he will get back into play. If Nik turns up, he will sort out the hot head

Im happy to go with Dmitry for this match an i definitely will take 15/8 on betfair.Tursunov has played well enough up till now an can be pleased with his performance against (Schwank an Hanescu) dropped 1 set to both.Tursunov has a great game for the hard courts powerful forehand an top class serve which Davy will find hard to break.
Davydenko has also been good in his 2 rounds racing to wins against (Sela an Calleri) winning both matches in straight sets. Also Nikolay has a 100% recold against his fellow Russian 4-0 1-0 (Hard court) an only dropped 1 set.But this match will be dictated by Tursunov an im backing him to get the job done
