Yep credit to Kei, great match and fight. But Ferrer is garbage at the moment, he still runs and fights for every point but his game's well off. I'm pretty sure he peaked last year and looks a shadow of his former self at the moment.

Guys, loved this match & congrats to Nishikori. I'll never forgive 'the gipsy' back in May playing for Spain against Germany in Dusseldorf where he showed complete disrespect to his country and everybody else by tanking the match losing 6-1 6-0 to Kolly. Once you do that once, you never know when he's going to do it again. It wasn't the case today but it serves him well. I actually think he should have tanked the match from the point where he was losing by 2 sets to show more consistency on the way he plays sometimes!

I still think Ferrer can win this match. Nishikori looks a spent force out on court. Must say though evens is a bit short for a man 2 sets behind. Come on David. By the way Ferrer is a top 5 player and he's proven it time and time again.

Kei will go into this match with nothing to lose. Ferrer will feel the expectation of being favourite and to win this. I don't think he will.

Expect the gung ho power and pace of the Japanese to completely overwhelm Ferrer and end his tournament.

Ferrer is ranked as good as 15-20. He will not be up there next year I can assure you especially when he is seeded less for Majors. He only beats average players - hardly would cause a problem to the likes of Gulbis, Tsonga, del Potro. Now these guys will occupy the Top 10 next year.

What do u mean worthy number 2? As in Spanish no 2 or World no 2?

LOL Catscratch spoken like a true coach sports critic. Try getting on the tour and getting to number 4 or 5 in the world with so many talented players on tour. You don't do that by luck!!! Ferrer is a solid player. I agree that he hasn't won as much tournaments as Nadal but Nadal is above average and this is why he is number 1 in the world.

sliced backhand: get out of tennis betting mate! Ferrer a worthy number 2??? He isn't even a worthy number 4 or 5. Overated rubbish. I can see where your money is going.

I placed a combo bet on Serena Williams,David Ferrer and Inter Milan in the football before reading this forum.I'm a bit concerned because I see Nishikori won International Tennis Championships in February of this year on a hard court beating Blake in the final. Ferrer however is a seasoned professional and a worthy number 2 to Rafa Nadal. I am banking on him to be the more consistent player over 5 sets here and Nishikori's inexperience on the circuit to count in Ferrer's favour

Quite good remarks here for this match. I saw some really unmotivated displays of Ferrer esp. in the last months but the things seems to have changed from what i saw. The guy is not really in remarkable form but wants to win and buckles down for that - so over the long run should take care of his opponent here.

Ferrer is capable of grinding his way through any match, and over 5 sets, the condition of Kei will be the telling factor. Ferrer though not in particularly good form has done enough to complete the job and Kei having gone the distance in previous matches may fall short of whats needed here

Ferrer played well in disposing of Beck, who I thought played extremely well in beating Isner. Ferrer doesn't have an y great form to relate to this year on hard courts that shows he has the game to go deep into this tournament. Nishikori on the other hand looks a bit fragile but the chance to make it through to the fourth round of this tournament must be a real motivation to the young man. It's a match for Ferrer to lose and have one of his famous chokes. He'll probably just keep knocking it about and will be happy to run all day and wait to Nishi to get frustrted and go for the winner. Rather like Machado last night who was going for everything and it almost came off him.

If this game will be in 2007 i bet on large in Ferrer. But since there, nuch things change, Ferrer going down much fast, playing bad, losing to mediocre players and not making the great results of 2007. And now against a young and motivared Japanese the things will be hard for spanish. But one thing can decide the game... The Japa have a terrible physical condition. This will help Ferrer a lot.

ferrer, is a hard one, nishikori is a good player, but he's not at 100% and ferrer can use this to take this match, can be a hard match, but i think that ferrer is capable to win

David Ferrer is the older one. He's a good player and has valuable routine. BUT he has this damned habit of choking now and then. Kei Nishikori is young, hungry and
