The Gonz can be fragile and with Bobby at home can smell an upset. Pretty damn good odds too!

After winning the first set, Bobby Reynolds looked on the ropes until he turned things around after being an early break down in the fourth set over the finite, gone, .com veteran Tomas Zib. The American battler braved 4hr and 15mins of slog, eventually racking up 33 aces and breaking his opponent on 6 occasions but from 26 opportunities. Gonzalez wasn't without his cobwebs, the Chilean silver medallist was playing second fiddle for most of his match with inspired Spaniard Navarro who produced 21 aces and won similar amounts of points on serve though made some costly errors in the fourth set breaker as the Chilean progressed in just under 3 hours. He was probably suffering from a little bit of Olympic hangover just like Dementieva, Zvonareva, Safina and Blake all did in the first round so we'll forgive him for that, and should show the fresher legs and vastly superior class against a real struggler. Reynolds has the big serve and will need to rush the net to prevent extended baseline rallies in which Gonzo's extreme power and cunning angles will win the day more often than not. He'll feel he has bigger fish to fry, he's in good enough form and a spot in the top 8 (for TMS Cup) beckons which should prove motivation in itself. Reynolds should be sluggish after his marathon and he simply doesn't have the class to outlast the brilliance of Gonzo over the b.o-5-set journey.
