Can't see Karlo do that today Helen. Not against Serra anyway. But if gambling has taught me anything, nothing is certain until the Fat Lady has done her thing. Like your flair anyway on this one.

Catscratch - I'm originally from Rockdale (famous for Sydney airport), New Sourth Wales.
As for why I chose to risk a bet on rubbish odds - I think it was pure addiction. I was in the shop, slip in hand, my single written on it, when I found myself adding Murray's name to it. It just seemed such a sure thing.
Anyway, now for the risky bet. I need Karlovic to implode (highly likely, because I've also bet on Serra at 2/1.
By the way, thanks for the compliment; I can't get too many of them.

Dunno why Helen but I do like you and your immaculate art in the written word :)

But yeah, hopefully the tosser loses next time out.

Why do u bet on so much short priced rubbish like Murray to gain an extra 25 Pounds?

PS: What State were u from?

Phew! I won't be making the mistake of betting on Murray at odds on again. The guy is totally unreliable (witness Beijing), and he was extremely lucky to scrape through tis one.

Catscratch - how sweet! I couldn't care less about Murray's personality; I just hate him because he seems so intent on losing this match.

Murray is certainly a detestable personality. Personally I like to see him lose. He is getting on par with John McEnroe.

But I won't give him the death rattle seeing as tho certain ppl i like here have their hard earned on the Idiot.

Ye Gods. Why is it always the seemingly sure thing add on bet, turning my more dangerous singles into doubles, which always f*** me up. I only stand to win an extra £25 if Murray wins, but I was so certain.
Seems like its all down the pan now.

Murray lost just 7 games in his first-round annihilation of the claycourt veteran Sergio Roitman looking sharp throughout especially on serve where he'd often fire up an ace or unreturnable just when you thought his mind was going elsewhere. The Scot made just 20 unforced errors, won 79% and 60% behind his first and second serves, was never broken in the entire match and won 13 of 17 advances into the net in what is proving a real improvement in the game of Murray. Michael Llodra was lacklustre in sets two and three against Gabashvili and was incredibly lucky that the erratic and inconsistent Russian squandered a 40-15 lead when serving for a 2-set-to-1-lead at 5-4 in the third. The Frenchman was on court for 3 and a half hours and his statistics would suggest it wasn't so much his quality play but the errors (including countless double faults) from Teimuraz that really let him off the hook. Murray is about 10 times as good a player than the Russian, and he was a convincing winner over the serve-volleyer when the pair met late last year in Llodra's home town - when Murray was just inside the top 20. Now, Andy is a career-best 6 and in sparkling form with his self-confidence beaming because he now knows he belongs among the game's creme of the crop after victories over Djokovic (2), Karlovic, Gasquet and a courageous defeat to Nadal in recent times. Murray is too good a defender to let Llodra get away with too many cheap points on the serve, and his baseline brilliance will have the big man clipping volleys at his feet. Murray is more likely to get break chances, is a better athlete, has superior stamina, the fresher legs, more variety from the back and is just all round such a better player. End of the road for sure for Llodra who can now focus on the doubles though the odds are hardly encouraging. Try a 3-1 value bet with Llodra to sneak an early tiebreak, but there is only one winner.

i cannot get that performance out of my head, the performance in beijing that is - he (murray) was terribly out of sorts. I wouldnt read too much into murray's mauling of roitman who is afterall a celebration of mediocrity on a tennis court. I am hoping Llodra can hit the same form he showed not so long ago and give murray a fright. Im not going to be brave on this one though instead going for a medium small stake at huge odds.

Murray was impressive enough in his straight sets victory over Roitman an could not asked for a better start.Llodra has a solid serve but like it has already been pointed out Murray has one of the best return in the game if not the best an Llodra serve volley game will be hard to keep up against somebody over Murray i believe an Andy will come through with flying colours

Murray is an amazing player. One of the most graceful cat-like lateral movers I have seen since the great Miloslav Mecir (CZE).

What can i say? 3 Set Job?

Murray after an embarassing 1st round exit in the olympics has to prove he can compete at the highest level. This will not be a test for him as Llodra was clearly shaky, capitalising on gifts from Gabash. He never looked fully in control, and which Murrays quality, will not be allowed the luxury of not being at his best

Here's a man with no chance. Llodra is not himself at the minute and he was lucky Gabashvili was on the other side of the net in his match yesterday and not a player with half a brain. Murray swept aside a spirited Roitman in straighr sets finishing with a beautiful flicked backhand down the line on match point. Llodra will be found out when at the back of the court by Andy's vast options. He's probably the best returner in the game and will be able to keep Llodra's serve in check. This is the biggest certainty of the 2nd round.
