Im happy to take a cheeky punt of the Steve here, Blake can play some great tennis here as he has proved in the past, but i just think there could be a chance for Darcis here, if Blake isnt 100% concentrated all match he could get in trouble...

Blake should win this if he plays tennis & not his show pony, non thinking, lets show the crowd how hard I can hit the ball, lets go for the most difficult shot imaginable style of play he comes up with quite regularity. Why he wants to play 5 sets in the 1st round of a Slam is beyond me-it only hurts him later in the event.I know it is a risk but lets go Blake again.

I don't know about waiting til he shows more. That's when the odds are even shorter and a player like Blake can just pull his worst out at any moment and sting you even more. I'm still taking him here but only for half the stake I put against Young.

Blake made everybody sweat on the first night with a marathon victory against the much-maligned youngster Donald Young in front of a packed house. The American was a little bewildered after the one-sided first set, with the lefty troubling him by often going back in behind Blake and mixing speeds on both his serve and groundies. Eventually the superior forehand artillery of Blake shun through and was much to thank for his total 54 winners, though not to be outdone Darcis was impressive in his tough 4-set win over the ultra-consistent Gremelmayr. He survived a barrage of 16 aces from the German and amazingly took all 7 of his break point chances which is what he'll be looking to do here against the home favourite Blake who as much as he can be lethal on serve it's also his major let-down. His focus will need to be on because the Belgian is quick, he has nice variety and touch like Young and he can produce the goods on his day. Having said that, the youngsters record at Grand Slam level is fairly poor and he's also never beaten a top 10 player. If James keeps his concentration on serve and when in front, he'll have simply too much firepower for Darcis but after R1 would anybody want to risk it? Wait till he shows more...

Blake came through a very hard match against Young yesterday but i always had the impression from Blake that he had the game an experience to come through which eventually he did.Darcis played a good enough match against the tricky Gremelmayr but James his a step up in class an has to many weapons for Darcis to cope with

I don't bet match odds with them very much, well not unless they release an early price that's the best around. I don't want to go into what I said before on here, but suggest you do take a look at whay I said (if you can) later, it could be profitable.

Why you say that Bunsen? On a sidenote, Bet365 is the worst Bookie I've come across for a long time. Their prices are diabolical compared to Wiliam Hill (my Bookmaker). If a player is 1/5 with Hills then they are around 1/8 with 365. Good coverage, daylight robbery with the quotes. Even Dick Turpin wore a mask.

Fair enough, imagine that Blake will be around 1.3ish actually.

Btw as a B365 user I suggest you pay close attention to the live outside courts on skysports interactive Vs B365's scoreboard.

Bunsen - I said 1.61 first of all and that's what the lay price was when I looked 5 minutes ago. Plus I'd back Blake at 1/6 here.

Catscratch666 - James Blake is a top 10 player in the World. He hasn't done anything right in his career??? You are so derrogative to people, even successful people. Get a grip and get a real perspective on life.

Just to dispell any thoughts i do't like certain American races, I have been a fan of James Blake and admire him as a person and player. he just ahsn't done anything right in his career and has the weapons to demolish most players on his day. In fact if he was an Australian, i would be proud of him.

He will account for Darcis and have more attention to detail to his game than Feliciano Lopez to his hair.

Blake toyed around with Young a bit longer than he should have before obtaining a late break in the 5th set then to serve out. The usually reliable and determined 9th seeded American was twice a set up before complaicency set it allowing Young a way back but the power and experience shone through in the end. Darcis eventually found a way through the in-form Gremelmayr in 4 sets but his form leading into here is nothing to write home about. Blake is a relieved man and will kick on from last night. Blake on the US hardcourts, especially the US Open, is unbelievable difficult to beat and Darcis wont be beating him. He looks heavy Darcis, big edge in every area for the confident American. Would be an unthinkable upset if James were to bow out here - Take it from me he wont.

Blake endured an extended fight against young in front of a passionate home crowd. He may be slightly drained, but when the adrenaline kicks in, his determination to do well here will allow him to optimally play. Darcis is very hit and miss and i dont think he has the overall quality to defeat blake here. Dont be surprised if james makes it a struggle, but he definitely is in the kind of form following the olympics that he would like to be in despite his loss to gonzalez
