Clinical from rafa..flawless in the tie break ..andreev played a very gud 2nd set other than the toe break which was a disaster for him.Overall a ithink it was a big improvement from rafa and he is now likely to improve further against either gasquet or ferrer (i hope gasquet moves on) coz ferrer can really trouble rafa!!

I couldn't agree more. Big Rafa fan here, but you'd have to be an idiot to bet Nadal here. At current odds, he's have to win this match more than 90% of the time for you to make a profit. And based on Andreev's game, there is no way I think Rafa wins this match 9 out of 10 times. Probably more like 60/40, so for me huge value on Andreev as well. I'll fully expect to lose this bet way more than I'll win it, but am happy to invest in the right value side.

Andreev is the best value bet so far in this tournament. Nadal looked rusty in the first round, and even for hard courts he was hitting an unusual amount of short balls. Andreev played well first round, and has a hard court game to trouble Rafa.
Real value in this match.

I think, in all respect to Nadal, if anyone can beat him it's Andreev. He is very well conditioned, and with his forehand he can be an equal competitor to Nadal. The Russian has played two straight finals on the ATP Tour, and already in Toronto he beat two very good players in Monfils and Berdych and I believe he has an outside shot of winning this.

With my earnings from Simon's win, I will risk a small punt on Andreev.
He made me lose my bet on Berdych... but most importantly, he is in the same situation as Simon yesterday ! He has had a good run for the past 2 weeks and has nothing to lose here. His win over Berdych brought even more confidence and if he can maintain his consistent serve, he will have a chance here.
Nadal did not make a good start. Yes Carson, he "gained total control and finished the job" against Levine, but isn't that the least we expect from the N.2 ? Moreover, with Federer out, I think he will just have more pressure to handle as he will want to go deep in tournament.

Teh demise of the great swiss start roger federer means that he is gona lose alot of ranking points and now nadal knows how realistic his chances of becoming n.o 1 !!!! if he wins toronto (which i think may not happen) he is gona close the gap to mere 275 points which can be easily covered in cincinnati..but the points wont change until 18 aug so this mite protect roger's rank for a while.Coming to the point, nadal plays andreev who has a huge forehand wid alot of topspin similar to rafa's forehand. But nadal's forehand once it gets into flow is highly consistent and his backhand plus the serev are improving alot.HE often dropped the balls short against jessi but i xpect him to generate better depth oon shots ,otherwise hez gona face trouble. Both of these played a very tite match in dubai 06 but now rafa is much better in all departments of his game..andreev wil often try to flatten out his forehand to hurt nadal but all is gona end in vain..NAdal in 2 or may b 3...7-5 6-4 or may be a tie break!!!

i think the most important factor in relation to this match is that federer has just lost. nadal obviously has a burning desire to be number 1 in the world and after seeing roger lose he will think this is his opportunity. will come out firing and should win 2-0

Nadal will stuff Andreev here. Andreev was great in his hard fought win over Tomas Berdych in 3 sets but can be exposed here with a bit of crafty play. Nadal, despite a slow start against Jesse Levine, gained total control and finished the job. He will also be buoyed after the deparure of Roger Federer who will surrender more points in the rankings which will allow him to close the gap quicker than he will have anticipated with a good run here. Rafa all the way here without much doubt.

Nadal took a long time to get going against Jesse Levine and was a little fortunate that the American didn't have more self-belief to take advantage of his opportunities particularly in the first set. Rafa served at over 70% of first balls in, yet won a mediocre 62% behind the first ball and just half of points behind his usually ever-reliable second. He needed to save break points in a couple of his service games after gaining the early break in the second showing he is definitely rusty on the harder terrains - undoubtedly his weak spot. Igor Andreev capitalised on an inconsistent performance from Berdych from the baseline, but the Russian did win a massive 83% behind his big first serve and faced just one break point the entire match. Andreev won the first encounter against a younger Nadal, but the world number two has won 2 subsequent meetings though their only encounter on hardcourt last year was the narrowest of wins for him. Rafa served incredibly well in that match (71% balls in, won over 70% behind both first and second) and you feel he will need to replicate that here to quell the powerful returning of Andreev particularly on the forehand side. Nadal is easily the superior player and with his court smarts and speed, he will be looking to direct all the traffic to the Andreev backhand which is definitely the susceptible wing. This won't be easy for Rafa given his slight dislike to the terrain and a less-than-convincing first round match, but you feel he'll have the answers for Andreev who relies a little too much on his serve and the heavy top-spin forehand which is inferior to that exact same shot from Nadal.
