It was either a poor serving display by Roddick or excellent returning from Cilic. For Roddick to only win 61% of first serves that went in on hardcourt is just amazing. My run of bad luck continues I think. Yesterday it was Federer, today its Roddick. I think everyone should just back opposite of whatever I back.

Bravo Marin!! Its always the same with Croats! When you expect them to win (Čilić against Clement,Cipolla,Starace...) they lose. When you play they will lose, like today, they win!! I woudnt put up money next time on Čilić when he's not a favorite. He had tougher time with Dlouhy then against Rodick. So tipical for him,Karlović,Ančić,Tipsarević....

lilboi, regarding your 5 leg bet... if everything else had come good in that bet and all you needed was the fed bet, when federer's up in the third it pays to put in some backup dollars on the contender. Simon's odds were around the 20-30/1. I picked him up at 8/1. If you've picked everything else and your final charge is comfortably ahead, you don't wanna sit through a dramatic episode just get that backup bet in, the odds will be good and you wont have to lay down much to avoid a heartbreak.

I'm new to this site, and I know that hindsight is a wonderful thing, but how could anyone fail to see that the value lay with Cilic pre match?

d-carson, we'll see about that buddy. Cilic is gonna take this...surely Arod will melt down soon just like the real Arod does in any tight situation.

ps: Nadal is a god - the sooner you learn that, the better.

IMO, Cilic has a chance so I wont risk a large bet on Roddick.
The value is with Marin.

Deccan Chargers u are making fool from your self.If you seen any match u would know that serve realy is not the biggest weapon here.Roddick won 81% percente of his service points but he won that against Mahut.Roddick will have low percentage from second serve today for sure. And to add that Cilic had in two winning sets against Dlouhy first serve percentage over 90 % and against Robredo over 60 percente on second serve.Do the Math.

cilic is one of my favorite players at the moment.. not only is he a great up n comer. but he's won me a good deal of cash because he's been at longer odds of late. obviously the bookies havent taken to him yet.
for me this is a great value bet, whilst i wont say that cilic will win, i think he has got enough in him to compete and pull it off. prepared to put my head out and say he can do it. at these odds its well worth the punt. roddick is so hot n cold in my book, the rest of the pack have caught up to him. as mentioned by a few here already he just doesnt have a complete game, and there are plenty around now that have the big serve and the ground strokes/speed to round off a complete game. dont get me wrong, roddick is still worthy of top 10 but i wouldnt put the sort of faith in him that id have in the likes of fed, nadal, djoko etc. cilic for me in what appears to be quite an upset!

As a fellow country man of Čilić who is born just 200 kilometars from me,i feel i have to say something to end up discussion about this match. Čilić has all the weapons to beat Rodick, except 1 or 2,and that is experience and confidence! He is just a kid,he can suprise Robredo,he can make fun of Davidenko, but when it comes to real stuff,he just chokes! 1 thing i will always admire Rodick when i look at him,is his way of serving. Đoković plays 15 times with ball untill he fires it,Rodick fires an ace with his closed eyes not even waiting few seconds to prepare. Maybe Čilić will be better in that aspect, but Marin needs atleast few more years of winning to have that tremendous confidence and experience that Rodick haves. I will be glad if Marin captures his bigest victory in carier today, but i'm fairly sure this will be another dissapointmen for him and his fans.

hard to understand what some of these people are on about, "attraction" saying roddick's serve is not doing much. haha, he won bloody 81% of his service points against Mahut!! Don't know what match you were watching. Roddick will not get broken by Cilic. Cilic is prone to concentration lapses, and will not be able to sustain the pressure Roddick will put on him with his serve. Maybe 2 tie breakers. Roddick loves the US open hard courts. it is better than even grass for him. With his record it is hard to see a guy who doesn't like the big serves, as indicated by his losses to Ljubicic, Bolelli etc this year, that he will struggle to find a way to win. A bad Roddick day seems a very low chance also, as he seems highly motivated to find some form after an annoying clay season and an injured grass season and with fed out, he is a chance of going deep. Roddick in two tight sets.

Oh Yes finally one match with juicy odds on Cilic.Roddick is coming back from injury while Marin has catch his old form. From baseline Marin should destroy Roddick and to be honest Roddick serve is not doing big damage here. His backhand is not producing any lenght and forehand gives to much spin and produces another strike from opponent.Cilic will make Roddick run with his allround play.Cilic has great odds here and deserves to place the bet on him.Not to mention that all Ex-Jugoslavian players come to life when they plays to big favourite.

Cilic was my only win last night. So he did me a favour, ( i had a 5 leg multi let down by FED of all people) but against Roddick on Hardcourts near America is a tough proposition. Robredo basically can't win against heavy servers/hitters. He just can't. So I wouldn't put in too much into Cilic's performance. It will be competitive two or three sets but I believe Roddick will fancy his chances with Federer now out early.
